CONSTITUTION OF MUSLIM INSTITUTION

MEMORANDUM OF ASSOCIATION

Section 1: Name
The name of this organisation shall be called “ THE MUSLIM INSTITUTE ” .

Section 2: Territorial Limits
The Territorial limits of this Institute shall be whole of India and its Headquarter be located at 21-A HAJI MOHAMMAD MOHSIN SQUARE, KOLKATA-700 016.

Section 3: Aims and Objects
The aims and objects of the Institute are:
(i) To encourage and foster brotherhood and harmonious relations among people of different reIigious social and cultural backgrounds, thereby strengthening the concept of "NATIONAL INTEGRATION " .
(ii) To encourage religious, social and cultural pursuits and promote exchange of ideas and thoughts among the people of different religious, social and cultural backgrounds.
(iii) To develop and provide a common platform for educated, progressive and talented Muslims, for the purposes of discussion of common problems of the community, encouragement of community service, advancement of social welfare ideas, advancement of international understanding, encouragement of participation in the fields of social, cultural, educational and sports.
(iv) To provide a range of opportunities and competitive options to the members of the Institute across the continuum of social, cultural, educational and sports options.
(v) To promote games and sports in the Institute and to provide them for recreation of the members.
(vi) To encourage religious, philosophic and scientific studies, and to promote literature and fine arts.
(vii) To improve moral tone of the society and promote intellectual and physical culture.
(viii) To arrange for instruction in various Indian languages (particularly Urdu) and foreign languages (particularly Arabic and Persian), and provide educational facilities to students.
(ix) To publish Books, Magazines and Journals.
(x) To open, found, establish, promote, set-up, run, maintain,assist, finance, support and/or aid or help in the setting upand/or maintaining and/or running schools, colleges,coaching centers, lecture halls and other establishments or institutions for advancement of education and of knowledge in arts, science, literature, culture, social work and all other useful subjects in all their manifestations.
(xi) To takeover, establish, acquire, start, run, maintain or manage in India Polytechnics, Skill Development Centers and Ind ustrial Trai fling Institutes.
(xii) To establish Association and Institutions in India with the object of control, supervision, regulation and encouragement in India of the games of Football, Hockey, Cricket, Tennis, Billiards, Athletics and other sports.
(xiii) To establish and run crèches and schools for the street children and the children of workers employed in unorganized factories, construction sites, etc.
(xiv) To open, found, establish, promote, set up, run, maintain,assist; finance, support and/or aid or help in the setting up and/or maintaining and/or running libraries, reading-rooms,gymnasium and other training and vocational institutes.
(xv) To grant, pay or give scholarship, stipends, prizes, rewards,allowance and other financial assistance or help in cash or kind to students belonging to the economically weaker sections of the society in general and backward sections among religious and linguistic minorities in particular with a view to help them in prosecuting their studies in schools, colleges, educational institutions, technical institution, art schools, institutions teaching commercial and other arts including teaching of cultural arts or other training, research or educational works in India or abroad.
(xvi) To establish and maintain Adult Education Centers and Self-help & Employment Generation Centers especially in the ruralareas and in slums for eradicating illiteracy and unemployment respectively.
(xvii) To give, provide and/or render monetary and/or other help and assistance for the relief of persons affected by natural calamities, communal riots or displacements and to give donation, subscriptions or contributions to institutions, establishments, centers or persons doing relief work on such occasions.
(xviii) To start, maintain and assist any relief measures in those parts which are or have become subjected to natural calamities, communal riots or displacements.
(xix) To associate, cooperate, affiliate and collaborate with and assist any other organizations having similar aims and objects.
(xx) To do all such things as the Executive Committee will deem fit, necessary, incidental and conducive to the dictates or basic teachings of the Sustainer for the attainment of all or any of the objects of the Trust.

Section 4: Independent Identity
The Institute shall have its distinct independent identity and continued existence not withstanding changes in the composition of its members, office bearers or management.

Section 5: Non-Distribution of Income amongst members
No portion of the income and property of the Institute shall be paid, applied or transferred directly or indirectly, howsoever, to any member of the Institute provided that nothing hereto contained shall prevent the payment in good faith of reasonable remuneration, honorarium or compensation to any member of the Institute in return of any service actually rendered to the Institute by the member as an individual.

Section 6: Management and control
The management and control of the affairs of the Institute and br its branches shall vest in an Executive Committee constituted in accordance with the Rules and Regulation of the Institute.

Section 7: Membership
Membership of the Institute shall be open to all gentlemen having firm belief in the concepts of pluralistic society, composite culture and equal opportunity, and respect and compassion for Muslims in India. There shall be five kinds of membership, namely, HONORARY MEMBERSHIP, LIFE MEMBERSHIP, SENIOR MEMBERSHIP, STUDENT MEMBERSHIP, and CASUAL MEMBERSHIP. Ladies shall be eligible for Casual Membership.

Section 8: Membership
Membership of the Institute shall be open to all gentlemen having firm belief in the concepts of pluralistic society, composite culture and equal opportunity, and respect and compassion for Muslims in India. There shall be five kinds of membership, namely, HONORARY MEMBERSHIP, LIFE MEMBERSHIP, SENIOR MEMBERSHIP, STUDENT MEMBERSHIP, and CASUAL MEMBERSHIP. Ladies shall be eligible for Casual Membership.

Section 9: Patrons
The Executive Committee may, on such terms and conditions as it shall decide from time to time, admit as Patrons those persons, association of whose names may enhance the prestige and popularity of the Institute and are likely to help in furthering the objects of the Institute either through their positions, professional knowledge and experience and / or through financial assistance.
