The Literary Sub-Committee is a vital section of The The Muslim institute. The major activities of this section are to organize events in the Institute which includes literary seminars, story reading sessions by the writers in Urdu, Bengali and Hindi, Mushairas, Shaam-e-Adab and Condolence meetings in the honour of late literary personalities. Noted poets and scholars from over all the state attend these programmes. This section has rendered outstanding service in the field of Urdu Language and Literature. A condolence meeting (Yaad-e-Raftagan) was organized on the death of 15 famous and eminent Urdu writers and poets in 2015-16. The programme was held on 23rd July 2016 at Qjader Nowaz Hall of The The Muslim institute. The programme began with recitation of Naat by Ex-student of Maulana Azad National Urdu University Saba Parveen Qdri. Mr. Shaikh ShamsherAlam (Hony. General Secretary), Prof. Mansoor Alam, Mr. Naushad Momin (Editor, QarterIy Mizgaan), Mr. Nisar Ahmed (Ex-Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kolkata), Mr. Qmruddin Malik (Chairman, Literary Sub-Committee), Dr. Omar Ghazali (Dept. of Urdu, Hooghly Mohsin College), Dr. Yasmin Akhtar (Head, Dept. of Urdu, Calcutta Girls’ College), Mr. Noorul Hoda, Dr. Nayeem Anis narrated some memorable incidences relating to Late Nida Fazli, Intezar Hussain, Prof. Asaduzzaman Asad, Mehboob-ur-Rahman Farooqui, Manzoor Ahmed, Anwar Sadeed, Abid Sohail, Zubari Rizvi, Prof. Afaque Ahmed, Saiyda Zafar,Jamiluddin Au, Dr. Aslam Furqi and Dr. Shakil-ur-Rahman. Mr. Nasirn Faique recited a poem titled “Nazr-e-Yaad-e-Raftagan” was liked by everyone. The programme was presided by Prof. Abdul Mannan and Mr. Saud Khan delivered the vote of thanks.
A condolence meeting was organized on the demise of well-known Urdu writer Khaliq Anjum and eminent Urdu translator M. All on 5th November 2016 at the Institute’s Computer Hall. The programme began with the recitation of verses of Holy Qran by Syed Shah Wamiqul Irshad Au Alqadri. Dr. Nayeem Anis, Dr. Naushad Momin, Mr. Feroz Akhtar, Mr. Eram Ansari, Mr. Qmruddin Malik, Miss Barnali Sen narrated some memorable incidences relating to Late Mr. Khaliq Anjum and M. All bringing out their versatile qualities and also expressed their grief on their demise. Mr. Saud Khan delivered the vote of thanks.
